Schematics with large clear text like the recently found capcom 1942 schems can be done at 300dpi. Schematics with small, tiny text labels on wires need to be done at 600dpi. Both should be done greyscale, or, if you can hand tune it properly, monochrome/b&w/"line art" (but tuning the threshhold for this correctly is a pain in the arse. I just do greyscale)
