It's a 3-story A-frame building with a fairly steep pitch, and the roof is pretty huge to boot. One of the alleged benefits of living in a condo is that you spread the expenses among multiple owners. I've found, though, that all of the shared expenses are scaled up 4x. So my costs are pretty much exactly the same owning a private home, plus I have all of the annoyances of dealing with other people.

That's good if you know what you're doing, or have buddies who do. In my case, we were replacing a roof that had been done improperly by the cheap-assed, thieving, son-of-a-bitch property flipper who created the condos, so I needed to be sure it was done properly. More importantly, I needed the 20-year warranty so I don't have to think about the roof again before I can get out of this place.
