It was colorful (in fact, it had more colors than the arcade), just very flickery, a terrible background color (chosen by Atari reps, even though the designer wanted black/blue like the arcade) and had horrible sound effects even for 2600 standards. I've never seen the 2600 kill screen though, only the usual arcade split screen.
