Because from our perspective 1) it always ends in tears and/or bad code (MAMEUI, MAME OS X - not necessarily in that order) and 2) we'd rather someone that driven about user experience just fix the "klunky" MAME menu system. There have been discussions on the list about making it all mouse-driven like ZSNES or the old Sardu emulators. But working code always trumps discussions
