I've personally seen gambling machines alongside traditional games in arcades in Vegas, and I've seen plenty of pictures of the same in Europe, Japan, and Korea. Even now in the US medal/ticket games (which are gambling minus the playing for money aspect) are common in arcades in theme parks and the like.
The world is a very big place. And MAME is even more intercontinental than eating French toast.
