Shadow mask now works in u5 with custom ini's. You may need to set shadow_mask_alpha to "0.0," and/or fix shadow_mask_texture to white.png or aperture.png.
Also, there are two new environment variables in mame.ini or [game].ini

Values in bold must be added to your mame.ini, or any individual [game].ini.
If you don't set "read" and "write" variables, custom HLSL will not be loaded/saved, but they can still be set in the mame.ini/[game].ini with a text editor.
