Here's the issue:
"I want to get this driver working"
interpreted by most people would mean that he wanted to put some effort in and fix it himself, but he can live behind the defence that he meant that he'd like to whinge until it's fixed.
I guess both are valid. I can't help but think his choice of words was precise rather than sloppy.
