That's unfortunate - there were a bunch of working discretes last year (Death Race, several Pong varieties, Breakout, Space Race, and a few I'm not remembering).

Yes.

I think it's a different set. ROM space was expensive on those early games, so selectable languages would've been prohibitive I think.

It's very hard because the controller should be a trackball. That's as pure of a game design own goal as I've seen.

The real fun for me at CAX was always meeting up with people I don't get to see the rest of the year, even moreso than the games. Mileage may vary for Bay Area locals, of course.
