Im sure that starting with Model 2, Sega started moving to rear projection type displays for the top end, money machines like Daytona and the rest, i've got quite a few old EDGE magazines, and in their Arcade section that they used to have, there are plenty of photo's of the luxury 'sit down' cabinets using pretty big screens, which clearly arent CRT's....although im sure the cut down 'stand up' cabs did still ship with CRT's...
I'll see if i can hunt them down, scan them, and post some here, to show what i mean...although i dont have the best of scanners....
