wow, thought of this immediately after posting and it worked. Thanks guys!

When I had password protected sharing enabled, I had my personal user folder shared, and I had set other PCs on the LAN to store the password for my personal user account on my own PC so that I didn't have to type it all the time while running back and forth between PCs.

It turns out that no matter what you do after that regarding sharing, other PCs continue to be able to access your personal user folder because it's inside the /Users folder along with the public folder that they already have access to.

I went to the "Credentials Manager" control panel on the PCs that could read my user folder and removed the stored credentials. Now my user folder disappeared on the LAN, good riddance.
