Keeping the *solder tip clean is the key to not having a hard time soldering, I have a hard time with it myself, even with a wet sponge and wrapping solder wire around it before starting. I always keep a file to clean it, but that wears it down.
*I hate typing that word, I keep wanting to type sauder It's too much like soldier, which sounds like Solger.. or Folgers.. In your cup?
