If you absolutely ~won't~ make a custom length cable of say 55'...

50' stretched is fine, just make sure you have some sort of strain relief near each end to keep it in place.

100' coiled is also fine if the cable is properly shielded (which it should be). Location of the "coil" isn't going to matter. Try to keep the cable away from flourscent lights and power cables/outlets/etc.

If the electrons get dizzy or bunch up in the cable, shake them loose in an Indiana Jones 'Whip crack' motion.
