The original pcb ate through ram because it used 4116 drams, which not only get very hot but also use 12v, 5v and -5v and need the power rails to be activated and deactivated in a very specific order or else the ram overheats even more than usual and eventually dies. I don't know if the pcb did this correctly or not. The pcb can be fairly easily modded to use 4164 drams instead which only use 5v, and run much cooler and hence last a whole lot longer.
