IIRC you used the 2nd joystick to control you inventory while you played which was very ambitious and ground breaking for the system it was on but not a very convenient control system! I remember I once got my Nan to do it for me, I think it was [fire] to drop items and they just disappeared. I wanted her to drop a load of my old crap I'd been hoarding then select the whip but she didn't get this and dropped the whip too leaving me trapped in a box I was meant to whip my way out of! I was angry! She's dead now!
