Either I got lucky or you just got a really bad luck because for me Seagate drives are the most reliable storage in hard disks. In fact as a PC technician I've been replacing Maxtor drives and a hell a lot of Samsung drives on PCs from clients because of mechanic failure.
Plus, I have Seagate Barracuda drives running on PCs almost 256/24. Constantly reading and writing data for more than 10 years and so far I haven't got a single problem with them. Of course that doesn't make me confident enough to not make backups once in a while.
