I discovered these two programs today and I've been fiddling around with the 3 static DNS entries on my router...

GRC's DNS Nameserver Performance Benchmark

namebench Open-source DNS Benchmark Utility
http://code.google.com/p/namebench/

I'm in NJ, just outside of Philly and it looks like the three best DNS servers for my location are...

Primary: 8.8.4.4 - Google Public DNS-2
Secondary: 216.52.94.1 - Internap NYC US
Tertiary: 63.240.1.43 - AT&T EMS NYC2 US (CERFnet)
