Thanks for the hard work, but I'm sorry to say there are some errors with incorrect marquees overwriting existing correct versions. Most have to do with marquee variants from a company called Leisure and Allied Industries based in Australia (LAI Australia). They imported many games as PCBs only, building the cabinets and designing the artwork themselves, ultimately ending up with an "Australian only" marquee. Here is a list of (mostly) correct marquees that will be lost if the update is copied to the MAME "marquees" folder:
bankp.png - generic marquee overwrites correct Sega marquee
cawing.png - LAI Australia marquee overwrites correct Capcom marquee cobram3.png - LAI Australia marquee overwrites correct Data East marquee, also this marquee is for "Cobra-Command", not "Cobra Command", a completely different game
mercs.png - LAI Australia marquee overwrites correct Capcom marquee
mustang.png - LAI Australia marquee overwrites existing marquee
p47j.png - LAI Australia marquee overwrites existing generic marquee
pigout.png - cropped variant overwrites correct marquee
pitfall2.png - LAI Australia flyer scan(?) overwrites correct Sega marquee
raveracw.png - LAI Australia version, not world
sqixu.png - generic LAI Australia marquee overwrites correct Romstar marquee
tdragon.png - LAI Australia marquee overwrites correct Tecmo marquee
tekken3.png - flyer scan overwrites existing marquee (also incorrect, but closer)
thunderx.png - LAI Australia marquee overwrites correct Konami marquee
ts2.png - LAI Australia marquee overwrites correct Capcom marquee
vf3.png - LAI Australia marquee overwrites correct Sega marquee
Some of the new addition marquees are LAI Australia versions too. They are better than nothing at all, but anyone anywhere other than Australia won't remember them looking like that. Maybe there is a way to mark them as LAI versions?
The LAI Australia logo on the marquees is easy to identify and I have attached a large version to see.
