They evicted the old man who lived next door. A few nights after that I saw a strange orange glow coming from his apartment windows, so I called maintenance...
Turned out the old man, on his way out, had stacked a butt-load of aerosol cans and paint thinner and similarly explosive material on his stove around the burners, and turned all the burners on high... the ornage glow was the orange glow of four red-hot burners inches from a stack of explosive cans. Thank god we had electric appliances... or I'm sure he would ahve done the old "burners on, pilot off" trick.
WTF, old man, did you consider the innocent people (ME!) you could have killed!
