Tight as in, flexibility, not as in 'engaged for the exercise.'
I only said it 'cuz i've got tight hammys and have a hard time getting my shoulders back on a deadlift. Stretching everyday has improved them, but i still can't stick my ass out far enough to get italie off and/or keep my head and shoulders 100% back while deadlifting off the floor. Because of this, i never go all the way down. Weak, i know...
