Fortunately, (retired former MAMEdev?) stephh did do some arcade code comparisons 15 years earlier and placed code observations within the source code file. Source code is viewable online if haven't looked within the source file.
- src/mame/drivers/rastan.cpp
Stephh's notes (based on the game M68000 code and some tests) -
As others have already commented, the revisions could be a various variety of things. One of the ways knowing what the revisions consisted of was one being a customer that purchased a cab and signed on with the arcade manufacturer to get any company newsletter announcements or bug fix data sheets. Atari and Midway were doing this back then. I am not sure about Taito, but they probably did same operation.
Lots of the paperwork is lost over the ages and who knows what the revisions consist of. Some cab owners still have all the company paperwork kept to this day with a cab they still own, but it is a rareity. For example a Midway Space Invaders cab would have about 30 various pieces of paperwork (manual, schematics, wiring ) included with in a large size envelope when first shipped in late 1970s. Next to impossible of finding all of the paperwork pieces still kept within same envelope for 30 to 40 years.
