BTW it could be some hardware change doing that? The hard drive is not the first thing that is read. I see the chip checker go in the bouncing mildly retarded "Midway 57" or completely unsynced depending on the first dip, so I'm not so sure about it fixing yours (the socketed roms match the ones currently in mame).
