The Mesa-based ATI and Intel drivers are fairly decent (and in some situations are better than the binary ones on ATI; their OpenGL stack is not really "pro-gear-spec" even on Windows), the Nvidia ones are still very primitive. Binary-only is *the* way to go with NV.
