pfeMAME version 2.15 has been released today
01/24/21 01:04 AM

Today’s release of pfeMAME brings with it the usual bug fixes and general code improvements. Along with those there are some major changes / features as per below. The manual has also been updated and please read it first if you have never used pfeMAME before as it has a lot of useful information.

Notable changes in this release:
  • I finally got around to making the manual look more professional – hope you like it.
  • The preferences menu page has been redesigned. A tabbed page has been introduced with the preferences grouped in various tabs. This looks a lot nicer and has allowed more preferences to be added without running out of screen space or making things look too cluttered.
  • BGFX video effects support has been added to the Video section of preferences. Nice if you’re into making your top-of-the-range PC look like a 1980s era CRT.
  • Additional sound settings have been added to the Sound section of preferences
  • Per-ROM input mappings management has been added. You can now create input mappings within MAME and have pfeMAME remember those mappings for you for next time – please read the manual section ‘Controller Input Mapping’ for detail on how to use this new feature. This is a very new feature and will likely require a few improvements.

Check out the changelog for a full list of changes as there are quite a few this time around.

You can download this release from HERE.

Please read the manual as it has everything you need. Please report bugs. You can email [email protected] or use the features on the sourceforge site to create a ticket, leave a review, or chat.

pfeMAME is a front end for the Multiple Arcade Game Emulator (MAME) written in Python. It is cross platform (tested on Linux - Ubuntu and Windows). It also includes a graphical Tile View designed for MAME cabinets which allows control using joystick / gamepad. It supports favourite game flagging, MESS systems, per-rom input mapping, and a Tiled view for arcade cabinets. It was written with a minimalist view in mind but also because there were some features that I wanted that other front ends just didn't provide.
