Yeah, I see that.
The group that released this one has a lot more that they put out this month. See Sonic Month.
Also, looking through info.sonicretro.org, I see MAME is missing a lot of prototypes. A few from Sonic 2 and I didn't even get into how many for Sonic CD, etc.

About the community contributing. I would be happy to but it's a steep learning curve for me as I know nothing about GIT and the procedures to manipulating the data. The other problem is that the MAME names and community names for some of these ROMs differ. So it is hard to tell what is what. Take Sonic 2 for example. SonicRetro has the "Nick Arcade" prototype listed as the oldest known version. MAME just has "sonic2p1" through "sonic2p8". Which one is the "Nick Arcade" prototype, which is the "Simon Wai" prototype, etc? Lots of data to comb through and understand. That is just for Sonic 2.
