I'm looking for two kinds of controllers to play "Street Fighter II" or one of its variants. And I thought that you might be able to help me.
At first I want you to know that it's totally unimportant which machine the controllers are for. It doesn't matter if they are for PC, PlayStation, XBox or whatever. I play the game through a real arcade board that is connected to a supergun and the controllers will be edited anyway. So, the actual platform is totally unimportant.
The first controller that I'm looking for: I need a controller that plays like the real control unit on an arcade machine, i.e. with a joystick. Now, the thing is: Let's say I buy a PlayStation fighter controller. How will the joystick be mapped? Is it supposed to be the PlayStation's analog stick or is it mapped to the PlayStation's d-pad? Because if it's mapped to the analog stick, won't that feel totally different than a real arcade unit? The joystick on a "Street Fighter" arcade game is a simple digital eight ways controller. So, which buyable controller do I have to take when I want the joystick to be a digital one?
The second controller that I need: I need a controller with a d-pad. The d-pad needs to be of high quality. Remember the old Super Nintendo controllers? The d-pads of them were perfect. On the other hand, the d-pad of the standard Gravis PC gamepad was horrible. So, I need a controller with a d-pad that can match the Super Nintendo's. The reason why I don't just take a Super Nintendo controller itself: I want a controller with six action buttons on the front. On the Super Nintendo you have to use the shoulder buttons for hard punch and hard kick. The same goes for the PlayStation controllers: They only have four primary action buttons as well, with the shoulder buttons for additional functions. But I need one where six buttons are positioned on the front side in the same layout as in "Street Fighter" games: Two rows with three buttons each.
So, those are the controllers that I need: One with a joystick for authentic arcade feeling and one with a d-pad like on the Super Nintendo, only with all six buttons available on the front. Again: The console that the gampads are for or if that console actually has a "Street Fighter" game is absolutely unimportant. All I need is the controllers itself since they'll be modified for a supergun anyway.
Thanks a lot in advance.
