I know what happens when I'm sleep-deprived. I don't see or hear things, I just have a string of nonsense run through my mind, which I imagine, if words, is being said by someone, though as I say, I'm not hearing it. It comes as a memory of something being said or done just then, usually followed by a "what was that supposed to be?"
