First off, I don't think that the moon landings were faked. However you can't dismiss "conspiracy theories" immediately. Are you just supposed to accept what is told to you in the press without asking questions? There are many things that simply don't add up or are too suspicious in many major events recent or historic. From 9/11, to JFK, to even Jesus Christ.
The most important thing to look at first off is where the information coming from. Don't tell me for a second that you think you're getting 100% of the facts from mainstream media. The news outlets have their own agendas and reasoning for swaying the public in a certain direction.
Look at Pearl Harbor for instance. For decades the american public was lead to believe that the US was attacked, seemingly unprovoked in an effort to draw them into the war. It hasn't been until very recently (history wise) that evidence points towards prior knowledge of the attacks and little resistance to stop it. A total shift in perception of what appeared to happen that day.
The media also immediately dis-credits conspiracy theorists and labels them as crazy, or as lunatics in an effort to squash any independent investigation. The same with the 9/11 commission reports. If you look at who exactly was on the commission, and trace their history and political leanings, then it's pretty easy to see that the "final story" of 9/11 is biased, rushed, and those that did the so called investigation did so very clumsily and unprofessional.
To say we have all the facts, and can close the books in many historical events is naive and irresponsible.
For every crackpot conspiracy theory, there are valid questions that should be able to be answered with hard-core investigation, evidence, and facts.
