MAMEWorld Forums - The Loony Bin - Self-Indulgent Status Update

I've been away from LoonyLand because of a change of work, employers fighting to want me and working lotsa overtime to pay off expenses ([B]TL;DR avoiding here from boring the contents of the large intestine out of the whole lot of ya...though that description could have been summed up with a brown four-letter word, no? Isn't it ironic, don'cha think?). Self-taught and proven skills, better pay, but with the potential downside of joining a union to get that Mafia curse in.

On the bright side I've hooked up with old friends who I'm kicking myself to tears because I didn't find out about how they're doing until now. And that leads up to a very old and dear friend whom I'm flaying my flesh over for not keeping in touch with for nearly a decade. Let's just say that he, my former boss, left the company i worked at, and I was so busy and doing my own thang that I neglected his own whereabouts.

Or, to put it in another way: I consider the '90s my literally alcohol-inebriated wasted years. I quit that crap and spent the '00s working and living life without that. I found true love and my partner died two years later. In that fateful year of 2009 i learned that some new "friends" in NYC, Minneapolis, and Calgary ran rigged talent competitions and didn't care about what was real and ethical. So I got more absorbed into my work while fighting off the crap of doing more than my share of work in a company with a department of slackers. I got burnt out and that led into a change in direction.

Crap. So much for TL;DR. ;-)

So I've been away from MAME and my ED2K/MD5 archival hashing duties for the last couple of months. I've went to college for some nice classes where I wound up with job offers for teaching positions. The problem is that I needed cash pronto and my current work schedule killed that opportunity for teaching adult education night classes where I would share my own "insider" information on how to be a thrifty and secure computer user.

Y'ever find yourself at a crossroads where all of a sudden the opportunities are just right there? It's as if people are suddenly taking notice only because I've been busting my shiny hiney getting the word about. In those last couple of months things just happened. And it also led to me thinking about my own future and what to do.

I envy people in their '20s who get that. I'm pushing 40 and it's as if I woke up from a very long slumber.

So, if you read this far, I commend you for your patience. If you like latex I'll throw you a small discount if you PM me and once I get my eBay store up (in six months, since I have the spreadsheets coded and manufacturers chosen years ago) I'll hook you up with easy-to-don chlorinated latex goodness.

It's all catch-up for me right now. And I'm finally wide awake.

All apologies to those who are offended by this self-indulgent claptrap. I'll rest for now as i troll people within my general circle with my own shiny love for oldskool arcade gaming. Latex and oldskool gaming works. :-)
