Freakin awesome. My friends and I used to spend entire weekends backstabbing the fuck out of each other, making [literal] backroom deals, and just generally enjoying the hell out of ourselves. Best turn-based domination game EVAR.

I also have to give mad props to another game fun at parties:

Before DOOM Deathmatches was this classic shooter. Scorched Earth is another fine feat of turn-based warfare that practically perfected artillery-based combat. Nukes, napalm, and TANKS (yer welcome) in stunning 256-color VGA! Oh, so many creative ways to frag opponents or get fragged if you're too close to an exploding tank. One time my opponent exploded into a Funky Bomb and killed me!

But, if'n ya want 3D with Scorched there's an open-source multi-platform version known as Scorched 3D. I haven't played it yet but it looks sah-W00T! I wonder how it will handle the nukes'n'napalm.

War games: It's not just a cheesy '80s flick anymore. Empire and Scorched Earth made for great combat sessions. :-)

EDIT: I take back the 3D crack earlier. Scorched 3D is Scorched Earth On Steroids! Everything about it is bigger. Especially the explosions! If you LOVE blowing things up then it's for you. Scorched Earthers, rejoice! :-)

Combating functional illiteracy with latex-clad drama since the '80s, because old video games rule!
