What you have to do is download latest MAME rom set & CHD set then put in your roms folder so it looks like this.

roms are zipped up so don't unzip them

your CHD files just place them as is unless they are zipped up, you should have your CHD files like this for example

folder aa3010 should have a file riscos311_apps.chd inside it like this

you might have to download bios devices & they go in the same folder roms

you also need the samples which goes in the samples folder & should look like this. https://postimg.cc/HJ9PkjXc

if you are only playing arcade games then you don't need anything else but if you want to play for example BBC computer then you'll need to download the software lists & CHD files but I don't play that stuff so someone else will need to take you further

Once you have done that click on MAME.exe & allow to run on your MAC you then should be good to go.

If you are only wanting to play Arcade games then there's a seperate variant of MAME called ARCADE but not sure if it works for MAC, also there's MAME UI which has a user interface & is easier for begginers to use IMHO

It looks like this https://postimg.cc/PvQq6Wwf but easier to use. You have to do the same for which version of MAME you use but I would see if there's a MAME UI or something like that for MAC.

you really need a rom manager for MAC & someone who can explain better in how to use as it will get rid of the roms ect. you don't need & re-name them correctly as not all are named right.

I hope this gets you started as the roms & CHD files are huge & if you are only playing Arcade games then you won't need them all but as I said above you need a rom manager for MAC & someone else to take you further.
