There's nothing to stop a convicted criminal from running for president.
The judge will have to throw him in jail for a long time to make any difference.
Putin's man will surely appeal against everything that's happened.
And if he ever becomes president again he'll pardon himself.

You can actually run for president from federal prison. Eugene Debs (Socialist party) was imprisoned for ten years for sedition (encouraging opposition to the military draft). He ran for president from federal prison in Atlanta and got about 3% of the vote.

Presidents can only issue pardons for convictions on federal charges, they can’t issue pardons for convictions on state charges.

If Trump gets 3% of the vote then that's ok.
