Please note that on Windows 10 and 11, Microsoft Defender has recently been noticed to randomly flag and delete executables that are unsigned or not approved by them, with a nonsense virus warning. This can happen with any homebrew program, not just MAME. Please be careful. You might need to replace Defender with something more reliable.
