There's really nothing in the game to suggest a story, per`se. The poster and one of the other flyers or an instruction booklet make mention of Queen Maitreya. But (as far as I know) all versions of the game (Golden Castle excluded) have you end up in "the treasure place" where Gurianos's eyes bug out at all the loot. Then you (usually) loop. No Queen or maiden/princess, etc. to rescue.
All those characters are just your opponents at different points in the 3 (well, 4) levels. Those mostly consist of blocking and/or attacking objects flying towards you before you fight.
I've contemplated what the story for this game might be. The people you fight could be former comrades, all now swearing allegiance to (Mad, Gold) King Gaius (who has actually become possessed by whatever that makes his bones come to life  ). IMO, that sounds more intriguing, rather than a "hero" out to get the treasure or rescue the girl and having to go through enemies.

That is so fucking badass and it's so sad.
If I saw that I would have bought it and once I received it I would have taken it to the STAPLES here and had them do a full size scan and I would have shared that with the world!
So sad, that, just like many boards are probably one of a kind and the owners want it to be that way. :/

Dan already has 2 other flyers with that (apparently) almost exact/same logo at the top. I would wonder... If the higher resolution pic that was attached in this topic couldn't be resized and shaped (correction for lens perspective/distortion) in photoshop, then using the scans he has for the others (Gladiator/Ougon No Shiro) use that logo as a basis for the colors to go by.  There might be some other subtle factors to consider, but you know what I'm saying.
Something I've noticed... A continuity error? Zaid/Zayd is holding a mace. But it's Zenon that uses a mace. But that's kinda trivial since (in the game) there are a couple enemy characters that have darkened (gray) skin. Pappos (in game) is as Red as all the chili peppers he must've ate to spit all those fireballs.

Honestly, I have no idea what you are saying, are you implying that this poster was just someones photoshop creation???
I can't image that is the case. Why would anyone waste all that time and effort for a one time auction that probably sold for $100 at best?
More likely they would be sharing their art trying to get others to appreciate it.

No. The artwork is original...
I'm saying taking the pic of the poster that's online (either from the site or the one attached here in this topic)...
Use Photoshop or some other graphics manipulation program to make it the correct size... Like cutting out the wood floor and weights holding the corners down.
Essentially what I said was... Heck. I have Paint.net. Let me see what I can do, then I'll attach that here.
Edit: This is just what I've done with my garbage skills and know-how.
