This is awesome news & the first laserdisc game i played on when i was a kid, it was 30p a game & i lasted seconds so i quickly went back to the 10p a play games where this time i lasted a few minutes. lol
Hopefully this leads to more laserdisc games being playable.
Thanks for all the work done

Have they figured out the way to make and store the "archive quality" dump of the laerdiscs yet?

The code-freeze cutoff is the same as it always is, regardless of delays: The last Saturday before the release week.

Maybe one of the posts within the 2022 thread has closest answer. Simon’s product is used regarding the laser discs. There was a different thread iirc, but couldn’t find it.
— question in 2022 will be “how much storage capacity does your computer have? “ *edit* 02/19/22

Were the qualitative copies of Mad Dog McCree series LDs found already?

Four discs, all with a fairly high amount of drop-out due to disc rot.
Stacked to eliminate drop-outs by plurality vote.
There are no drop-outs after stacking.
NO DROPOUTS.
A THEORETICALLY PERFECT CAPTURE, HOLY FUCK.

That is so freaking awesome!!!! I don't know how many times I've been a part of a thread where people were arguing whether or not it would be possible to make a perfect capture out of many many captures from different disks. I always believed it could be done and here you have fucking done it with data to show it. Amazing job.
Thank you MooglyGuy!
BTW, Out of all the games to get a perfect capture it's Thayer's Quest! A game literally no one ever saw in the wild! LOL

I see there is a zero-dropout DL

I have thought about this a few times but it was never possible then but now that it is, I wonder is there any attention being paid to exactly which Dragons Lair and in the future Space Ace discs are being captured? As in Original or re-pressing. (If that's the right term???) I know that SA had an official re-pressing in like 91 then the guys from the D-L-P had a DL disc re-pressed in like 2002.
So I'm just curious if this ZERO loss DL is from all original DL discs or are there the repressed discs used in the stack?

All discs have to be from the same mastering run. That's the only way this works.
Photoshop's Median filter won't give you a nice tourist-free image if you feed it 50 images from the same tripod of the Eiffel Tower, and 50 images from the same tripod of the Sears Tower, either.

Good work and thanks to the various assistance from the many others involved with various portions of involvement of getting the data media preserved.

As for Time Traveler, seeing no mention of zero dropout with that title, will it mean having to find better condition discs in the future? Or is that not an issue for Time Traveler?

Great to see this finally playable in MAME. 0.262 is gonna be huge release.
What are the differences in Dragons Lair us & euro is it just the on screen scores ?
Thanks to all involved

Just wanted to say this is very exciting and really excellent work from everyone involved, it's very much appreciated. I'm definitely looking forward to whatever comes next for LD related stuff in MAME, whenever the time comes.
