Of those doing live stream coverage events, Willy being literally inside where the action is….in harm’s way is ballsy since he could be done in or taken as a captive. I didn’t know he was Australian until watching on of his streams. I had never visited his home page, but will say that his style of journalism and going to a specific place to report such as in dangerous territory takes guts.

I was watching one of his streams from the prior week where I believe he briefly explained which gun caliber sounds can be heard if listening to a stream where machine guns sounds are all over the place where a listener is having to guess if the sound came from a tank, or IDF soldier, or a Hammas fighter. Willy’s explanation was somewhat useful imo.
Back on Halloween night, just after 9PM PST when I was watching Steve ‘s live channel showing Gaza area at 6 AM there, there was a battle that went on for 30 minutes where Israeli forces and Hammas fighters were going at it before about maybe 5 to 10 jets were dropping bombs for 5 minutes and then the action came to a close. The area was in far northeast farming territory where farming community houses were no taller than two stories in height.

The anchor Steve kept saying ‘crazy’ the entire time while gun sounds were all over the place which is useless compared to where Willy Oam might try to explain the events and indicate sequence of events being played out.
The one slightly amusing moment was Steve was pissed off at one of the messages that was continually pinged to him by a particular listener recommending to Steve to listen to Willy’s stream where Willy was giving a tutorial about specific gun sounds.
Steve angrily responded on his live feed to that specific poster: “ I don’t have time nor interest in finding out who is firing a particular gun. Don’t pester other forum members with Willy’s stream regarding weapons sounds.”

On one of the recent Gaza streams by Willy, a cat startled Willy by appearing from the darkness and clawed and tugged at Willy’s pants. Since the Israel area that is next to the Gaza border wall has limited lights, it is almost pitch black where Willy was filming. I was watching the stream and it was entertaining when Willy was startled by the cat.
Willy’s reporting from Israel and Gaza has run its course since it was a several weeks visit with his own specific reports and comments before he would be on his way going back home. It was interesting watching it since there were various moments ranging from harrowing to comical. It was worth viewing such as his comments such as ‘dying for Buffalo wings right now’ or his view with America with its numerous selection of snacks compared to other countries and jokingly mentioned ‘how he would have been popular there in the region’ if he brought an assortment of unusual Doritos products or even a few bags of Cracker Jacks’ in case he had to bribe one of the locals while visiting there. Anyway….well done Willy Oam for a worthwhile work of reporting over there.
btw:
the gutsiest person with nerves inside Gaza, that is not a fighter, soldier, nor medical staff at one of the hospitals inside Gaza, is the camera operator for AFP media news, that has been in charge of running the remote camera inside one of the remaining tall buildings still standing in Gaza city. Fortunately it can be remote when need be other than cleaning or adjusting camera lens when safe to come out of the shelter. Various projectiles can be heard whizzing by or ricochet around the camera. Thankfully not having to be with camera since it is in harms way.
