Game boot stuck at "Program loading verification ok"

Hello dear community,
I've downloaded some Aristocrat MK6 roms, including the MK6 software base, and then I tried booting up "50 Lions" and others.
In the Bootscreen everything is marked as "ok" and it eventually reaches the point "Program loading verification ok".
This is where it get's stuck and nothing happens further.

My MAME Version that I'm using for this is MAME 0.236 and the rom file is called "50 Lions (10120511, NSW/ACT)".

In that case, your MAME version should present you with a big red screen that says, in capital letters, "THIS GAME DOESN'T WORK," prior to the driver itself starting up. You will have been prompted to either type OK or move your joystick left and right in order to proceed past that modal.
Is there something ambiguous about the wording on that particular screen, which the team could improve in order to make the message more clearly understood?

actually these days you only have to press a button, rather than any kind of 'OK' or 'Left + Right' which was done in an attempt to appease the idiots hacking out the screens as some kind of compromise.
Maybe the problem is they're now *too* easy to bypass, so people aren't paying attention to them, and the old behaviour should be restored.
