my congrats to NBA Denver Nuggets
#396399 - 06/13/23 07:29 AM

The team finally wins an NBA title since some merging ABA teams joined NBA back in mid 1970s when names like Gervin and Issel were known ABA names back in the days. Denver did have potential to win a title sometime in 1980s decade iirc, but Lakers kept beating all the Western conference teams during playoffs back then.

If anything, I was guessing NHL Colorado Avs franchise would be winning NHL Stanley Cup. I wonder if Hizzout (a Coloradoan who used to post here long ago) is celebrating the Denver Nuggets title.

Hey GregF! Been sooooo long.

I was never a life-long Nuggets fan, but it's always great to see the home team get the win.

Only the Rockies left to go to win a championship and our city has it all!

Yep. The days when you and italie posting each other way back then.

> I was never a life-long Nuggets fan, but it's always great to see the home team get the win.

The team was very good then, but Lakers and SuperSonics were great back then as well. Tough teams to beat back then.

> Only the Rockies left to go to win a championship and our city has it all!

They did give it a run back in 2008. My late brother-in-law and I went to Coors Field when Pirates would be in town at same time playing Rockies. It was an experience when my in law would drive into downtown finding a nearby parking area. He did the same when his hometown Reds would play there as well.

Need a Sune bassline new [Re: gregf]
#396601 - 07/01/23 01:46 AM

With Reddit shitting the bed tomorrow with 3rd party apps shutting down I need to remember what used to keep me entertained on the internet.

Surprised to see this place still standing.

I don't remember how to get to the other place....The bar....if that's even still standing.

Gone. Just like Rod Serling’s TV show Night Gallery with episode of Tearing Down Tim Riley’s bar.

Thankfully still is. Props to both KC and Roc for starting things way back then in the days when users would be satisfied if any CPS-2 games and Neo Geo games be playable. The thought of support for items such as handheld games or musical equipment was barely on the radar then.

Bonus points if anyone can identify where it's from, because I've forgotten myself.
Also (rolls dice) papa needs a new set of strings

Weather Report Black Market

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hBtB3QLCP2c

At first, it partly reminded me of Weather Report’s Black Market album (1976) with Jaco Pastorius on bass, but nope. Maybe something by Marcus Miller? It can’t be anything from John Pattitucci or Tim Landers or even Neil Stubenhause though John and Tim and Neil could easily play it. Neil Jason (Brecker Bros) also comes to mind, but probably not him either.

Black Market is a very young Alphonso Johnson and then Jaco Pastorius on a couple of tracks, but none of them are known for slapping.

I'm pretty sure that's it. I just can't remember the name of the song.

Iirc jazz group Yellowjackets Jimmy Haslip had a similar style imo.

As for MAME side of emulation, I am rooting for further continued emulation of Roland digital guitar.
That way I can pretend to play like Steps Ahead Modern Times album guitarist Chuck Loeb did with tune Safari.

To be fair, every funky bassline sounds like ToeJam & Earl.

Or maybe Zapp & Roger

I know the URL and it still prompts for user name and pw but I don't remember my credentials.
