Just say thanks to Bobby and leave it at that. I hope a few more updates might happen later this year.

Hooray. I missed your updates, but great to see any entries being updated.

I know I sent a message for updates on the non-cpu page a few years ago.
I probably still have the same message if needed again.

Ha! No need to worry about offending me - it's been nine years actually (not quite the decennial update, but close enough). I really started this page because at the time, it seemed that MAME supported just about everything people could think of, within reason, and around the web there was just scattered information about a handful of unemulated games.

Not really the case these days. But, I hope the page is still something a person can scroll through and look at the pictures, and maybe find a few novel discoveries, at least.

If I remember, most of these were about MAME drivers only documenting proms - I just noted that at the top of the page. If I missed something though, let me know.

Going by memory from the post 2000 year, there were a lot of game entries that I don’t recall seeing in person.
I am glad many of the entries have been found, emulated, and removed from the pages over the past two decades.

I know of a couple entries that could or should be added to the pages if another update happens later.

> If I remember, most of these were about MAME drivers only documenting proms

Correct. Some of the non-cpu games have had their roms and proms dumped over the years even though their are still many more non-cpu games with roms and proms not yet dumped and need to be added to the non-cpu video games page.

> I just noted that at the top of the page.

For just about all of these entries in MAME but not playable, only the proms are currently documented.
For more information on the games, check out Discrete Logic.
Information on these games:
Old games such as Pong didn't use microprocessor ROMs but integrated circuits. Emulation of the actual circuits themselves is needed to get the games in MAME. This emulation is being worked on in a project called Dice

Okay. Looks good imo. Maybe other additional notes that could be added if wanting to

A. More TTL chip hardware needing to be emulated first.
B. Some game monitors might also need to be emulated.
C. Game cabinets of some non-cpu video games might also require emulation of analog hardware components
such as gun control inputs, coin input mechanisms, game selection slide switches such as game selection settings etc.

> If I missed something though, let me know.

I will post updates here in this thread because there should be a few more additional entries and changes that have happened over past few years. You did quite a bit of work already. Am impressed.

Re: unMAMEd page entries that can be removed new [Re: btribble]
#395598 - 01/22/23 12:45 PM

This is first part of the list, but these are entries that can be deleted if choosing to:

The Monster Zero entry is still there so that too can be removed.

https://unmamed.mameworld.info/non_other80.html#MonsterZero

NOT WORKING in MAME - WIP drivers L-P

Monster Zero

Monster Zero (Nihon, 8?)

Other entries that can be deleted,

Barracuda (Coinex, 82)
Punching Kid (Irem, 82)
Data East Explorer
Dacholer (Nichibutsu, 83)
Big Fighter [Tatakae Big Fighter] (Nichibutsu, 89)

Heated Barrel (Tad, 92)
Legionnaire (Tad, 92)
Titan (81)

Gallop Racer 2 (Tecmo, 97)
Computer Othello (Nintendo, 78)
T T Spacian Part-2 (Taito)
Aka Zukin (Sigma/Seibu, 84)

Reasons the entries can be removed : protection mcu’s emulated, or missing proms found and supported, and for Data East Explorer entry can be removed is the add-on pcb was found and roms dumped and supported. As for the Seibu related products is the hardware devices emulated just enough to get the games in working shape.

Including a few more updates in this post to consider. A future update will be done for the non-cpu video games section later.

With the game in working shape, either the entry can be removed or updated with a change to needing to find an alternate region version in case the game was released with regional versions for sale at the time.

The next section is for entries that could be updated with more appropriate descriptions.

Uses a custom programed FPGA, SEI300, to offload some math calculations and misc functions. The infamous "COPX-D1" (and/or COPX-D2) chips appears to be math tables used by the SEI300 and not the actual MCU. The functions of the SEI300 haven't been emulated / simulated well enough for the games to run. (Also applies to Olympic Soccer '92 )

These 3 entries can be given same description. None are in working shape.

Thanks for updating unMAMEd Bobby.

I was told about Donkey King PCB by an op who used to switch them Donkey Kong roms and by a friend who used to play Donkey King in the squash courts near his house.

If it wasn’t for inMAMEd I wouldn’t have known about the extremely rare Donkey King Jr. variant during my search for unemulated Donkey Kong variants.

Thank you for your very informative page and your continuing interest in the hobby.

Thanks too to Gregf for your encyclopedic knowledge, continued interest and going down those rabbit holes with your inquiring mind Gregf.

I remember Gregf asking me where and why I’d bought the artwork for Shoot The Bear.

It was because I knew if I didn’t buy it that it would most likely be lost.

I would probably still be searching for rare games if MAWS was still accessible as I used to reference all arcade PCBs on unMAMEd, MAWS and VAPS pages.

Cheers to all.
