Use a front-end.

None of them. Maybe the closest is Negatron, but you can't add inis from folders or audit the roms you have...

The closest to mameui is the mame newui, but is hard to manage software for computers or consoles.

I've set up Arcade64 on my cabinet now that MameUI is no longer updated.

I've not put much time into playing games on it, yet, but it seems to work for what I need it for.

Although outdated and not a full recommendation, I still use Mamewah. It isn't anything like MameUI, but it works for me, and it was updated a while back to utilize the MAME XML format. There is still a very small community that is trying to keep it alive.

Another "open-sourced" option is FEEL. I had to use this for a while until a fix was built for Mamewah. It works well, and comes close to the experience of using Mamewah.

Again, none of these options are new, nor are meant as replacements of MameUI, but are options for cabinet frontends that can be easily customized to meet certain needs.
