In MAME, on Millipede, how do I get into the second self-test screen?
According to the manual, to get into the second self-test screen:
>... set the self-test switch to off, then simultaneously press the auxillary coin switch and the self-test switch.
How do you achieve this in MAME?

Yes, so you would press and hold 5 on your keyboard and press F2.

The words you quoted from the manual tell you exactly how to do it. And MAME tells you what the controls are if you simply hit Tab and go to the Inputs (This Game) menu. There's no magic about it, and no guesswork/messing around needed either.

I disagree. If you hit tab and inputs (this game), F2 is not mentioned at all.

Russ (or anyone), how would you erase the high scores, i.e., erase the EAROM? The manual says press both starts and fire simultaneously. The message in upper left (of the test screen) should then read EA FF. When I try this in MAME, the EA reading stays the same.
Then again, this could be a manual error, as when I try it on a real game, there is no change either.

I think that's the starting score. Press and hold 5 then F2. Hold 5 and 6 and press CTRL(fire), the colours should change. Then press F2 to quit back to the game, then press 5 then 1 to start a new game. You should get the screen to start with a new score.
