It's thanks to this little guy, that I first learned video games existed outside of the US (I was a sheltered child).

He is... adorable.

If I'm not mistaken, his full name is Takosuke. In Parodius Da!, he uses one of the Gradius II weapon layouts.

Tako is the character in Parodius Da! arcade (and the earlier MSX versions).

Takosuke is his son.

-- is in Parodius Da! as the option for Tako
-- takes his dad's place as a playable character in Gokujyou Parodius... he wear's a blue baseball cap in this one
