Greetings dear community ![](//www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif)
I hope this newbie question won't be of bother. I'm new at HBMAME, and I've noticed that the UI's audit does not detect all the roms that I've got.
By far I've understood that I need the specific Romset for HBMAME... yet, I've seen that most MAME rom's are actually detected at HBMAME and just the Hombrews / Hacks are the one's that I need to get for HBMAME.
Now, my real question is.. are some games intended just for MAME and not for HBMAME? By far, games like "The Legend of Tonma", "Street Smart" (Sega's original and the Final Fight's hack version), are some examples of games that I cannot make it being detected by HBMAME.
So, in a summary.. is the compatibility within HBMAME and MAME will be improving with time? or, this behavior is expected and I need to understand that some games are playable with MAME and some with HBMAME?
Thanks a lot for your patience and help. Nice to meet you all

Expected. HBMAME has its own unique set of roms.

HBMAME is an alternative version of MAME for hacks and homebrew that don't qualify to be included in MAME. By design the two have their own distinct romsets. The only real overlap between the HBMAME romset and MAME's is that the unmodified parent roms for hacked games are supported. Games that are supported in MAME that don't have any known hacks are not supported in HBMAME.
