MESSUI shows less machines than MESS
#393662 - 04/02/22 06:55 AM

Hi!
I always get MESS and MESSUI from messui.1emulation.com and I have just noticed something strange: MESS shows 4656 systems, whereas MESSUI shows only 3288 (under "all systems" folder, in case you were wondering).
What could be happening here????

MESSUI only contains mostly working systems.

But why not include all systems, even if they don't work?

What's the justification?

MAMEUI(64) shows all systems, regardless of their status. for completeness sake, I guess.

They are different things. The idea is that just as ARCADE64 only has working arcade games, MESSUI would only have working non-arcade systems. But it's becoming a burden to make sure what works and what doesn't, so I might go back to including everything, even the garbage. I'll think about it.

Thanks for being open to discuss this. Plus, offcial MAME, MAMEUI both include all emulated systems. If somenone doesn't wanna see non-working games, they can always apply a filter (or choose the appropriate folder) and that's it.

thanks!

From 0.244, MESSUI will contain all MESS systems except those that freeze or crash. So now, the most likely reason for a crash will be the use of unacceptable floppy disks. You don't get a harmless message - the entire thing blows up. Unfortunately, this is out of my hands.
