Super Xevious and Xevious doesn't use a 4 way stick. Uses a 8 way stick. You can convert it into a 8 way on the Partycade. I done it before. Parts on Amazon. I don't know they corrected this later for the newer models or not.
Sinstar doesn't use a 8 way stick. Uses a 49 way stick. But on the Partycade there is a USB port for a controller. Newer models only.
There are some other fuck ups that they done.
You can replace the sticks and whatever. The hardware doesn't have any issue on the replacements. For example 49 way stick should work. Might have to mod the wires on the stick though.
What I heard. You can swap games board. For example Frogger board from a CounterCade can be use on a Partycade. As long the buttons are there. Time Pilot 84 uses two buttons.
I paid $75 for my Asteroids one, then gutted it and dropped a decased Dell i7, custom control panel, coin door, custom-built riser, and different 5:4 screen in it. I've got less than $200 into it, and it's a lot of fun. Had a lot of fun modding it as well. But yeah, I wouldn't pay full price for one. The original hardware was atrocious.
I built my second cabinet, based on the Asteroids/Missile Command cabaret, for the sole purpose of programming my own arcade games. I put a 13" CRT in that one. I've got two games done for it so far

Nice for that price. I just saying paying too much isn't worth to mod one. For $75 (or more less) and it have a light up marquee hell yeah I would mod it. Slap my PC and my rotation screen (maybe 3 screens) in the cabinet. Use both my X-Arcade or even better just use controllers.
You could sell the Arcade1Up board, screen and parts on eBay. Get some of your money back. People looking for the parts for replacement.

Why not, it's no different to having a fast Pac-Man cheat which removes any and all difficulty (when you're moving at twice the speed of "Cruise Elroy" Blinky, what is the challenge?)
Or some of the options in Atari 2600 games e.g. Super Breakout modes 8/9 where the ball never speeds up and the paddle doesn't shrink to half size when you hit the top, or Frogger where the B (novice) difficulty allows Frogger to wrap around the screen instead of dying, or Jr. Pac-Man where you can select how many ghosts to play against.
