game counts for ALL software lists
#392569 - 11/11/21 12:31 AM Attachment: 1.png 7 KB (0 downloads)

Hi ciro and antopisa,

Want to compare your counts to mine?
I found very different results compared to renameset for ALL software lists together.

See screenshots for results.
First screenshot shows SW items, meaning the numbers of softwares (not the roms inside each software item!)

Antopisa:

327.790 roms (+374), 326.025 program roms (+376), 585 BIOS roms (-2), 1.180 CHD roms, 293 sample roms
642 active SL (+1), 12 orphan SL (+1), 130.117 active software (-6/+368), 886 orphan software (+119)

- where is your parent/clone count???

- how do you count bios and sample roms?
There are none...

Second screenshot shows counts of ROMs (this name is better software items, it's chosen wrong) and number of chd files for each software list.

Antopisa:

327.790 roms (+374), 326.025 program roms (+376), 585 BIOS roms (-2), 1.180 CHD roms, 293 sample roms
642 active SL (+1), 12 orphan SL (+1), 130.117 active software (-6/+368), 886 orphan software (+119)

How do you count only 1180 chds? It are over 9000... (see screenshot 1 for total count, screenshot 2 for CHD files for each software list)

Software lists are in \hash\software_name.xml
My frontend extracts all of the games from it and if a set has a supported="no" tag, my frontend tags that game as "imperfect". Also detects the "cloneof" tag, but that's about it.

Emu Loader lists CHDs of software lists correctly.
Like the -listxml output, each game entry in softwarelists has a "disk" tag for CHD files and a "rom" tag for everything else (carts, floppies, cassettes...).
That's how my frontend does it.

In software lists, there are no bios or devices, only parents and some clones (mostly parents).
If you want to keep a personal database, it's up to you. This task of yours is kinda pointless since software lists change constantly. You're gonna go crazy when the next MAME build comes out, specially when with the nes.xml software list (so many changes...)

only arcade sets with CHDs, excluding softlists, perhaps.

Not "maybe": sure!

The girl reporting the data in renameSET.dat, which of the lists only shows a summary in the last line before the rename/delete list.

The detailed counts regarding the software lists are present in the renameSET_SL.dat file.
