Mac compatible devices

Hi
I recently bought me a MacBook Pro M1 MAX and my older desktop Mac, but still very fast enough to run MAME, is being used in my arcade cabinet I'm still finishing.
I never bought any arcade controls and I'm now just using an X-arcade arcade stick using USB.
What arcade controls are compatible with Mac OS since I understand they are not all driver-less? I'm looking for all regular arcade cabinet controls that should work in Mame Mac OS (M1 build). I'm just starting now for 1 week building with the help from a friend.

USB HID devices will work fine in Mac and MAME without any special drivers. So get one that appears as a standard gamepad/joystick
