I-Pac 2 old PS/2 version...
#392323 - 10/28/21 11:39 PM

Hi,

I sent this straight to Andy but if someone knows what to do, it would be appreciated...

I need your help, On my arcade machine, the buttons seems weird... let say I press forward, and then up its not doin it... if I press a key let say a direction or a button, If I keep it pressed, after 5 let say the button 6 of player 1 is "x" then If I open a notepad it will write this : xxxxx then stop... even If I keep it pressed... If I do the same thing on the keyboard it will keep it indefinitely like this xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.... So each time I keep it pressed, it just do xxxxx then stops... Same thing for the forward or any keys... but ok if I use the keyboard directly...

Do you have any idea why it's doing that? Did not find any driver in windows 10 for the I-pac... or let say keyboard other than my default PS/2 I imagine...

Thanks a lot, your help is really appreciated 😀

Luc

I finally manage to resolve my issue... here is what I did...

First of all, a big thank you to Andy for his amazing help on this, could not do it without him!!
He helped me a lot for this so now I hope I can help at least one person out there!!
Information on Ultimarc for this USB Bug :
http://www.ultimarc2.com/ipacusb.html
Must admit that this bug cost me a few bucks but at least its working now
This guide is for the I-pac 2 PS/2 old version (Not the USB newer version) to make it work on a pc that as no PS/2 port… (First picture on top)
First, don’t buy a PS/2 to USB converters like the white with the purple and blue connectors... Its cause the keypress to stop after a second or so and give like only 5 or 6 keypresses... No way in Windows to correct this... well If you find a way tell others because I didn't find it...

The blue connector is what resolved my issue but make sure to use the good port because one of the 2 is for the mouse and the other for the keyboard but its not really marked on it...

The purple one in the middle should probably work but I think mine was defect...

The other one as you see in the middle picture, I tried to put that purple connector in the pc PS/2 port and use a USB male to male, but I didn't manage to make it work, maybe the pinouts are not ok for that, or my wire was not good...
Last picture is if you want to hack old keyboard and USB wire… At last moment I was going to do this, but I didn’t have too finally…

Hope this little guide help you out… Sorry for the English, not my first language 😊 I can correct this guide if you want Andy… Maybe a good thing

Have a good one!!

Luc
