Don't know if it is of interest to anyone... but I have written a few tools to parse / standardise history.dat over the years, and thought I'd share the results. I've included a subset of just CPS1 in the link to keep file size down, but am building whole arcade just fine.

I think most of it is self-evident. Compare like for like entries and you can see the description is broken into discrete sections (trivia, series, tips, etc).
I'v also standardised port names, regions, and release dates.
It's basically a lot easier to pull specific facts to render subsets of data for various machine families.
