v0.231 doesn't recognize my swlist zips/roms - how to audit?
#390796 - 05/03/21 12:02 AM

Hi,
I'm trying to run a gameboy game. I have setup Software base dir to d:\g\mame\r\sw, and I do have gameboy\megaman.zip under it:

Code:

$ unzip -l megaman
Archive: megaman.zip
Length Date Time Name
--------- ---------- ----- ----
262144 12-24-1996 23:32 dmg-rwx-0.u1
--------- -------

However, mameui latest says rom not found.

dmg-rwx-0.u1 NOT FOUND (tried in gameboy\megaman megaman gameboy)

I've tried a couple more gameboy swlist games, for which I also have the zips, but mameui keep saying the same...

So, there must be something simple I've overlooked somewhere... I checked ini\mame.ini file, and I see the correct dir as well:

Code:

swpath D:\g\mame\r\sw

Also-also, I've tried to audit the individual games, but no "right-click" menu on the games; only in "gameboy" swlist...

Any hint, greatly appreciated!

thanks,

SWPATH denotes the home folder for when you need to use the File Manager/Select media to load loose software. Software List entries which use the HASH folder .XML files work off your ROMPATH. If you are pointing to a folder and in that folder your have "gameboy/megaman.zip", it should work fine.

Try adding your software directory to your rompath, it might not be honoring the swpath for this case; or there is an ini precedence conflict somewhere.

As you know you should also have a '\gameboy' directory beneath your software directory with the zipped roms in it.

You're confusing software-list software with loose software.

swpath and software base are for loose software. But you're trying to run an item contained in a software list. For these, you need to put the path to them in the rompath or mediapath.

EDIT: everybody answered at the same time. Hopefully you can work it out.
