HBMAME 0.227 Question

I cannot get 0.227 to run any games. My 0.226A version was working just fine. I thought maybe because of the changes there was a setting it didn't like. I deleted my cfg, nvram and sta files. I am using all newly created ini files. I pointed it to the ROMs, icons, etc. and everything refreshes seemingly fine. I pick any game, the screen goes dark like it is going to load the game and then it just flashes back to Windows and HBMAME is no longer running. It has crashed.
Am I alone in this? I haven't made any changes to my computer since 0.226A and was working fine yesterday. Of course I installed this over my 0.226A installation so I can't go back unfortunately. I tried installing to a new directory, but no luck. Maybe a new default setting somewhere?

Thanks for the reply.
For the computer, I built it and is the same computer I've been using for a few years now. Windows 10 Pro, ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VIII Hero Alpha MB, Intel i7 6700K 4GHz CPU, 16GB of RAM and Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 graphics. Nothing has changed that way.
Regular MAMEUI 0.226 works fine as did HBMAMEUI 0.226A.
Here's something interesting. I just downloaded the command-line HBMAME 0.227 and put in the same directory. I fired it up using the internal UI. I set all the directories and everything worked fine - the games ran with no trouble. So if the command-line works even using the built in UI, why doesn't the HBMAMEUI version work?
It did output a bunch Warnings though in the command window.

I'm also using Windows 10, and it runs fine. I don't know what to say.

Ok cool. That doesn't explain my weirdness though. Everything included in the distro 7zip file should be enough to run it? Maybe I'll download it again and try a new directory. I'm out of ideas.

Well I don't know how to explain it but I got everything working once again. I re-downloaded the 7Z file and extracted everything to a new directory. I made minimal changes and started it up and it worked. Then I did a slow and careful add 1 thing in and add 1 more directory and start it up and test. I slowly added everything back in and made some gradual changes to the gui settings and hbmame ini files and am back in business with everything I need populated and all changes added in.
I wish I knew why the other one didn't work - the only thing I did differently this time is (besides starting from a clean directory) is just making gradual changes.
Robbbert - I really appreciate your replies trying to straighten me out. Thanks for HBMAME too.

So and I've got the same problem but with Arcade32. 0.227 and 0.228 version it's not working but 0.226 works fine.
I've got Intel I875 board, Geforce 5950 Ultra, WinXp 32-bit - maybe problem is in my outdated computer or system. I don't see any reason to changing a computer.

Well, almost two months have passed since my post... in the meantime Retro Danuart has worked hard and solved the problem (as it is written on my home page).
